Personally, if I were working occasionally in Revit in a solo workflow like being the half time modeller half time project manager for a small single family home builder and contractor, I'd rather have the extra $2k in killer phone service with hot spot to be able to work online on the job site than have access to any of those features.
On smaller similar projects, just build that into your template - you're not making changes to 3+ similar views at the same time anyway, so it's significantly less useful. View Filters - on large projects an absolute must. So I'm hopeful we'll finally get a license so we can actually try it out a bit more.īecause at the end of the day: "we don't know what we don't know"Įach of those options are both absolutely useful, and also doesn't matter to lots of people. It's just a little clunky.īut once again, we have a new employee joining us in a month who is very comfortable with full Revit. And we have exported models to Twinmotion before, so there are ways to send out to better rendering engines out there. Besides, our residential clients love the panoramic rendering links we send them. Rendering: we are pretty content with rendering our stuff in the cloud.
LT let's you create view templates, so while setting up and using view filters sounds useful for big complicated models, why not just create a view template? (and fwiw: LT does have phase filters and design options). So while creating embedded schedules sounds neat, it still doesn't seem all that necessary for our services. And Sketcup (and Shapr) are still great for quick massing studies.Įmbedded schedules: LT let's you create regular schedules and drop them onto a sheet. Massing/Area/HVAC: since we do residential work we don't believe we are missing these features too much. Here are my thoughts about how we've overcome some of the "missing features".Īdvanced Modeling/Model in place: since one can make a family into just about anything, it really isn't a huge loss to simply "find" what we are looking for and drop it in. As a residential firm which has used LT for a while now, we keep questioning what we are missing by not using Full Revit (other than the 2,000 dollar price jump).
